What makes Berlin unique as a fashion city for you?
As one of the most important cultural and creative hotspots in Europe, Berlin has long lagged behind as a fashion city. Many designers come from Berlin but have migrated to other cities. Now we see many talents staying in Berlin and creating their own system. They are making the city's special characteristics their own and implementing them - with their vision and values - in their collections. It's experimental, innovative and really shows how fashion can be a carrier of identity.
Have you noticed any particular elements of the Berlin fashion scene that differ from those of other fashion weeks?
The designers exhibiting in Berlin are very value-oriented. Many of the brands have a holistic view when it comes to environmental and social sustainability. Without being too loud. This is something that many larger brands could learn a lot from.
What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week?
I'm sure returning brands like SF1OG and Sia Arnika will show a memorable show and collection. I'm also very excited about Richert Beil and Milk of Lime, two brands I've been following for a while and who are now showing at Berlin Fashion Week.
You can also find the interview with Oliver Dahle, Editor-at-Large Fashion at Scandinavian MIND, on the Berlin Fashion Week website at the following link.
We would like to thank Oliver Dahle for the interview.
